Vampire Trails

I run towards Amber and stop in my tracks when I find Sam already with her. I glare, not even realizing that I'm doing so.

she put her head in her hands, still shaking. She could barely speak, the fear and tears almost becoming too much.
"T-the l-lightening..."
she barely managed to whisper
is jake really coming for me...?

"Lightning...is that all" he smiles "the lightning isn't going to get you" He says ignoring Jake for now

she shook her head
"L-lightening got my brother...w-why not me?"
she stuttered

I clench my hands into fists, controling the urge to change into a wolf. "Amber..." I say, my voice shaking slightly with anger.

she looked up, suprise flashing across her tear-streaked face
"J-jake!"
she stumbled to her feet, running over and hugging him as she broke down in tears

I look down at her in shock. "It's alright, don't worry. You'll be alright." I pet her damp hair calmly.

"The thunder..i-it was...s-so close.."
she shook against him, half out of cold and half out of fear
she sobbed, burying her face in his chest

"Don't worry. I'm here now. I won't let anything happen to you." I see lightning flash across the sky. "Maybe I should get you home." I look to Sam, not making eye contact "I'll explain everything later." I mutter to him.

she shook her head
"I-i cant go home...my parents get really anxious when i'm out in a thunderstorm...i-i dont wanna go home for now..."
her breathing slowly steadied as she felt safer with Jacob there

I bite down on my lip. "Alright...well...I'll take you back to my place." I sigh knowing I can't avoid Sam. "Maybe you should come too..." I sugest.

"Thank you Jake..."
she murmered hoarsely, looking up and producing a small smile

I walk her towards my Rabbit, my arm over her shoulder.

she yelped a little as lightening struck again
she looked down
"S-sorry.."
she huddled a little closer to Jacob

"Its alright." I open the passanger door for her to get in. I turn to look for Sam, but don't see him. I sigh and get in on the drivers side.

she shakily got in, strapping on the seatbelt

I start the engine. "You okay Am?"

she ran a hand through her soaked hair
"I-i think so..."
she nodded

I put my warm hand on her shoulder "It'll be alright." I smile and face the road. I start driving towards my house.

"Thanks Jake...if you hadnt come looking for me who knows what would've happened..."
she shook her head

"Sam was there, he would've protected you...." I mutter

"but who said i wouldve stopped running? if you hadnt called out i would've kept running deeper into the forest, and you know being around a lot of trees isnt the best place to be in a thunderstorm..."

I shrug "Sam would've found you anyways, trust me."

"Either way...i'm glad you found me, Jake..."
she looked down at her jeans, which were now ripped at the knees

I smile subconciously. "Me too..." I whisper too low for her to hear.
